16-year-old Karetsas makes Genk tick and looks forward to facing former club Anderlecht: "I'm having fun"

A product of Anderlecht's academy, Karetsas swapped Brussels for Genk in 2020 and has since flourished in the Blues' youth ranks, establishing himself as a key player for the U18s and impressing with the reserves in Challenger Pro League action.

At the start of the season, Karetsas was integrated into Genk's first team by head coach Wouter Vrancken, making his senior debut in the Belgian Cup and even featuring in the Champions League against Liverpool. The attacking midfielder has grabbed his chance with both hands, becoming a regular starter for the league leaders and producing some eye-catching performances.

Karetsas's rise to prominence has caught the attention of many, including former Anderlecht coach Vincent Kompany, who praised the teenager's talent and potential.

Despite his tender age, Karetsas is already drawing comparisons to some of the greats of Belgian football, with his style of play likened to that of Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard.
